Will of Eliza Ellen Strachan (Spinster)

I Eliza Ellen Strachan of Pittville Court, Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester, Spinster hereby revoke all wills, codicils and other testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last Will. I appoint my Brother James Arthur Strachan of Pittville Court aforesaid a Colonel in His Majesty’s Army on the Retired List sole Executor and I give to him all my jewellery, plate, books, household furniture and articles of domestic use or ornament and also all my wearing apparel. I give the following legacies free of duty. To my maid Mrs. Smith, one hundred pounds. To my cousin Mrs. Emily Rogers, one hundred pounds and to my friend and medical adviser William Powell of 1, Seagrave Place, Cheltenham, fifty pounds. I give, devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of the estate and effects belonging to me at the time of my decease or over which I shall have any power of disposition by this my Will unto and to be equally divided between such of my Brothers and Sisters as may be living at the time of my decease for their his and her own use and benefit absolutely. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this nineteenth day of May 1915.

Signed by the said Eliza Ellen Strachan with her mark as her last Will after the same had first been read over to her in our presence and had appeared to be perfectly understood and approved by her in the presence of us both present at the same time who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
