De Boinville was born in Burton, Westmorland, in 1868, the second son of the Revd. William Chastel de Boinville, Vicar of Burton, Westmorland, and his wife Amelia Susannah Phyllis (née Terry). He was educated at a preparatory school in Marcham, Berkshire until 1882, and then at Marlborough College, Wiltshire 1882-5; after this he matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in 1886, BA 1889, MA 1906. De Boinville was ordained Deacon in 1892, and Priest (both Gloucester and Bristol) in 1893; in 1892 he was licensed Curate of Holy Trinity, Cheltenham, where he remained until 1894; in 1893 he lived at 15 Pittville Parade (now 30 Evesham Road) in Cheltenham. He moved to join the Bishop of Carlisle’s special staff for two years in 1895 (when he was licensed as a Preacher in the diocese), before being licensed Curate of St George, Barrow-in-Furness 1896-8 and then Curate of All Saints, Cockermouth from 1898. In 1901 he became Curate of Leeds parish church, and in 1906 took up the office of Perpetual Curate at St Martin’s, Potternewton, Leeds until 1910. In that year he moved to Gloucester as Vicar of All Saints Church, until 1921, when he became Vicar of St John’s Church, Windermere until 1937. In 1939 he lived at Holly Cottage, Manor Road, Verwood, Dorset, and later at 86 Flanders House, Marnhull, Sturminster Newton, Dorset; he continued to preacher and officiate at local services.
