Lifestory: Frederick William Young was educated in Finchley, and matriculated at Queen’s College, Oxford in 1877; he migrated to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in 1879, BA 1881, MA 1885. He was ordained Deacon in 1880, and Priest (both Gloucester and Bristol) the following year. In 1880 he was licensed to the Curacy of St Paul’s, Cheltenham, where he remained until 1882. Young moved in 1881 to 5 Pittville Terrace (now 5 Clarence Road), where he lodged with the Cosson family; the Directories put him at 6 Pittville Terrace (6 Clarence Road) from 1883 until 1886. He was licensed to a series of other curacies, at Holy Trinity, Ripon 1883, St Matthew’s, Redhill 1883-7 (by 1886 Senior Curate). Later that year he was married, to Florence Mackinlay; the couple had three sons. He proceeded as Curate to St John’s, Reading 1888-9.

In 1889 he was appointed Vicar of Holy Trinity, Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire (valued at £530 a year with residence), where he remained until he was presented with the Vicarage of St James, Taunton 1900-10. His final office was Vicar of Pucklechurch with Abson, in Gloucestershire 1910 until his death. He died suddenly on 1 September 1922, at the age of 65, when attending a Church day school in his parish.
