▶Lifestory: Florence was baptised in Madras on 2 March 1871. Her father was an Army Brigade Surgeon (on her marriage certificate of 1899). She probably remained in Cheltenham after her marriage, as a daughter was born there in 1902. By 1904 she was in India, where her son Robert was born. She was in Cheltenham again in 1909 for the birth of another child. Her husband died of pneumonia in Mesopotamia in 1918, where he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the 94th Russell's Infantry (Indian Army), and Florence was then living with her parents at Trevalga, Lansdowne Parade; the couple had three children.
