He was living Cleveland House in May 1845, when his wife gave birth to a son. He was an active member of St John’s Church, and on behalf of the church made a presentation to the curate in charge (Alexander Watson) who left in November 1851. At the time of the 1851 census he lived at Minster House, Cambray, Cheltenham, with this wife and family. He had four sons and three daughters. There is a reference to him in Bath Road in 1854 (perhaps this was his practice address). He moved his practice office to 4 Essex Place, Rodney Terrace in August 1855. As late as 1856 he was described as being ‘of Cheltenham’. By 1860 he was living in London, and in the 1861 census resided at 18 Westbourne Square, a widower.
