George Schreiber

General information

Born 19 October 1794.
Joined the 11th Regiment of the Light Dragoons [a cavalry regiment] 28 December 1813. His horse was shot from under him at the Battle of Waterloo 18 June 1815. On 11 July 1816 he was gazetted Lieutenant. Placed on half pay as Captain 1821.
Married and moved to Pittville Lawn in 1836.
He died at home on 5 March 1878, at the age of 83 and was buried at St Mary’s Church in Cheltenham.
