He boarded with his brother Frederick at a school near Dover (1861 census), and entered Trinity College, Dublin in January 1870, MA 1876. Evans was ordained Deacon in 1892, and Priest (both St Albans) in 1894. In 1891 he lived at Grove Hill, Essex, with his sister Frances and her husband. The following year he was licensed Curate of Holy Trinity, Hermon Hill, Wanstead, Essex, remaining there until September 1895, when he became Curate of Christ Church, Worthing. He left Worthing in 1898, when he was appointed Perpetual Curate of Cold Salperton, near Northleach, Gloucestershire. He married Isabel Marian, only daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel John Yate Holland, formerly of the RMLI, at the Parish Church in Cheltenham in 1900; they had no children. From about 1901 he lived at 5 Pittville Villas (now 58 Prestbury Road), in Pittville, Cheltenham, with his wife Isabel. He resigned his Perpetual Curacy in Cold Salperton in 1922, but remained at his Pittville address until his death in 1928, at the age of seventy-eight.
