▶Lifestory: A lady of considerable intellectual attainments, she matriculated at London University, and passed her first year's examination in Medicine. From early 1916 until the date of her marriage she was a nurse at an English hospital behind the French front, and bravely endured the many hardships and dangers incident to that period the war and her close proximity to the actual fighting. She died of bronchial pneumonia following the birth of her first child (who did not survive).
