Godfrey Godfrey-Faussett matriculated at University College, Oxford in 1831; he migrated as an Exhibitioner to Corpus Christi College, and then to Magdalen College, BA 1836, MA 1838, BD 1849; Fellow 1848-53. He was ordained Deacon (Oxford) in 1837, and Priest in 1838. He remained a College Fellow until he had to resign the position when he married his cousin Jemima Bridges in 1853; they had five daughters and a son. In 1860 Godfrey-Faussett was appointed Rector of Edgeworth, Gloucestershire, where he remained until 1864. From about 1866 he and his family lived at Glenfall Lawn, All Saints’ Road, where he remained, a clergyman “without cure of souls”, until 1870, when the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol licensed him as a general preacher in the diocese.
