Pittville History Works is a project run by the Friends of Pittville in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Pittville is known for its elegant nineteenth-century houses grouped around Pittville Park with its magnificent Pump Room and lake, but the project is interested in the wider social context — the people, the post-Regency housing, and the social history of the area. At present we are transcribing census records and street directories for parts of Pittville, as well as collecting photographic and other archival records of the area, in order to discover more about life in Pittville in the past.
If you’d like to contact the project — with suggestions, corrections, offers to help, etc. — then please send an email to Pittville History Works Enquiries.

We make every effort to ensure that the facts presented on this web site are accurate (especially the transcriptions of what can be difficult handwriting on census records). But mistakes will inevitably occur, and so we make no warranty whatsoever as to the accuracy or completeness of the Pittville History Works data.
