Scroll through George Rowe’s engaging tour of Pittville in the mid 19th century, in his Illustrated Cheltenham Guide (1850 edition). His atmospheric line drawings of buildings and street scenes have often been used subsequently to depict life in Cheltenham in those days.

Memories of a park-keeper’s son: Robert Holder (b. 1937) was the son of one of the park-keepers at Pittville Park. Read his reminiscences of living in the Lodge off Marle Hill Road as a small child, playing in the Park, watching the Big Top being erected for the circus, and walking around the town over seventy years ago.
